After launch
Website Maintenance That Stays Optional
What the Care Plan covers
Hosting
Your site runs on our server, configured and monitored by us. Static pages, so there is no database to corrupt and no plugin stack to fall over.
SSL certificate
Issued, installed and renewed automatically. The padlock never lapses, and visitors never see a browser security warning.
Security updates
Server packages and the site toolchain kept patched. Because the site ships as pre-rendered HTML, there is no CMS admin login to be brute-forced in the first place.
Backups
The whole site is versioned in source control, so any deploy can be rolled back. Nothing is ever one corrupted file away from gone.
Content edits
Text changes, new photos, price updates, hours, staff changes, a new service. Send them over and they go live — normally within one business day.
Uptime monitoring
The site is checked automatically. If it goes down, we find out before you do, not after a customer calls to tell you.
Emergency fixes
Something broken — a form not delivering, a page erroring, the site unreachable — jumps the queue and gets worked on the same day.
A person who answers
The same developer who built the site. No ticket portal, no tier-one support reading from a script.
Response times
These are the targets we work to during business hours. They are commitments about effort and priority, not a contractual uptime guarantee.
- Site down or forms not delivering
- Same business day, treated as urgent
- Something visibly broken on a page
- Within one business day
- Text, photo, hours or price edits
- Usually within one business day
- A new page or a new section
- Quoted separately, then scheduled with you
What it does not cover
Listed plainly, because a maintenance plan that is vague about its edges is how people end up surprised by an invoice.
- New pages, new sections, or a redesign — these are quoted as project work, not maintenance.
- Writing new marketing copy or blog articles from scratch.
- Photography, videography, and licensing stock imagery.
- Ongoing SEO campaigns, link building, or content marketing programmes.
- Google Ads or social media management.
- Work on a website we did not build, unless we have reviewed it and agreed a scope first.
- Your domain registration fee, which stays in your name and is paid to your registrar.
Anything on that list can still be done — it is quoted as its own flat-price job. See pricing or read how projects run.
Maintenance questions
Is the Care Plan required?
No, and it never will be. At launch you choose: take the files and host the site yourself — we help you set that up free — or leave it with us on the Care Plan at $49/mo. Most clients choose the plan so they never have to think about hosting again, but the free handoff path is always open, including later on.
What happens if I cancel?
We hand over the site files and help you point the domain at your new host. No exit fee, no hostage period, no "we own the code" surprise. You are billed monthly, so cancelling stops the next charge rather than triggering a payout.
How many edits are included?
There is no ticket counter. Small text and photo edits are covered as they come up — realistically that is a handful a month for most businesses. If a request is really a new page or a new feature, we say so and quote it flat instead of quietly absorbing it or quietly declining it.
What if I want to host it myself?
Entirely fine, and it costs nothing. The site is static HTML, so it runs on almost any host, including inexpensive ones. We hand over the files, walk you through the setup, and point the DNS. After that you are self-sufficient, and you can still call us for one-off edits.
Do you maintain sites you did not build?
Sometimes. It depends on what it was built with. Send us the URL and we will look before answering — taking over an unfamiliar site without checking it first is how a maintenance plan turns into an emergency.
Is the Care Plan an SEO service?
No. It keeps the site fast, current, online and correct, which is the foundation SEO needs. It does not include ongoing keyword work, content production, or link building, and it does not promise rankings. If you want ongoing local SEO, that is a separate conversation with its own scope.
Questions about hosting and upkeep?
Call and talk to the person who will actually build your site. Or send the form and we'll call you back with a flat quote within one business day.
